Brett Ratner is out as producer of the 84th Academy Awards show.

It’s been a tumultuous several days for Ratner, who, amongst several offenses, used a gay slur when asked a question about filmmaking. The director said that “rehearsing is for fags” in a Q&A session following a screening of his new film, “Tower Heist,” at L.A.’s Arclight Cinemas. He apologized for the statement after NY Magazine published his remarksand a video of the exchange was posted.

Eric Stoltz = Marty Mcfly

250x154_ericstolz_martymcfly_101210.jpgEveryone knows the classic 1985 film “Back to the Future” featured a boyish Michael J. Fox in a winning performance as Marty McFly.

But Fox was not the original McFly. In fact, Eric Stoltz was five weeks into shooting the famed McFly role when director and co-writer Robert Zemeckis made a drastic production decision — changing his lead actor.

Details of the shocking Hollywood switch and never-before-seen footage of Stoltz as McFly are part of the extras package for the “Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Trilogy” to be released on Blu-Ray on Oct. 26.

Zemeckis says the casting change was “this horrific decision; it was heartbreaking for everybody.”

According to John Barrowman’s Big Gay NemesisNeil Patrick Harris, when he returns as Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible, it’s going to be in a feature film. What’s more, he doesn’t think the record-breaking online distribution of part one is going to apply next time either. Is he thinking they’re going for a theatrical release?

That seems like a tall order, but I can see a straight-to-DVD release happily. Why that wouldn’t coincide with a digital download I don’t know… so, my crazy theory for the night is this: is this thing going to be made for TV?
